Pending First Instance Cases
When a person has a case to answer for breach of the IAAF Anti-Doping Rules or IAAF Integrity Code of Conduct, charges are brought by the Athletics Integrity Unit to be heard by the IAAF Disciplinary Tribunal, the independent first instance tribunal that hears all disciplinary cases in athletics.
The IAAF Disciplinary Tribunal began operation in April 2017. It only has jurisdiction for cases arising out of investigations that started after that date. Therefore, we are currently in a transitional period where some first instance cases are being prosecuted by the Athletics Integrity Unit before national level tribunals or by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
In this section of the site we list the Pending First Instance Cases of the Athletics Integrity Unit. Some of these cases will also appear in the list of Provisional Suspensions in Force.
When a case is determined by the Disciplinary Tribunal it will be removed from this list and placed in the list of First Instance Decisions.
